Golf’s second major of 2021 takes us to Kiawah Island and we’ve picked out a trio of players for punters to consider in our US PGA Championship predictions.
Bwin is paying out on eight places in their each-way market and the stage is set for a great tournament as players chase glory in South Carolina.
Here are our three off the tee and their US PGA Championship odds:
RORY McILROY @ 11/1
The omens certainly look good for the 32-year-old Northern Irishman to win the tournament for the third time and claim a fifth major title overall. McIlroy romped home by an incredible eight-shot margin when the event was last staged at this course in 2012 and he returns in fine spirits after bouncing back to form with victory in the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. The Northern Irishman has always been the type of player to feed off momentum and looks a worthy favourite this week.
VIKTOR HOVLAND @ 20/1
The Norwegian has made good progress since landing the 2018 US Amateur Championship, posting two PGA Tour victories at the Puerto Rico Open and the Makayoba Golf Classic. Tough courses do not faze the 23-year-old, who has finished 12th and 13th in the last two renewals of the US Open. Hovland’s current form is another plus point, having tied for third in two outings this month, so another bold showing is expected in our US PGA Championship betting tips.
ABRAHAM ANCER @ 50/1
Corey Connors gave us a good run for our money when picked out as the best Masters longshot at 70/1, sharing eighth place, and Ancer gets the nod as a value pick this time. The Mexican finished strongly when runner-up to McIlroy at Quail Hollow, having previously been fifth at the Valspar Championship. Although not the longest hitter off the tee, he is among the best around when it comes to driving accuracy and greens in regulation, which could be crucial if the wind gets up here.
